How Are You Improving Dementia Care?

BRIGHT Chairman Terry Moore was a guest on host Lori La Bey’s open mic radio show, “How Are You Improving Dementia Care?”. He became a part of the Alzheimer’s scene when his wife was diagnosed 5 years ago. Due to the lack of therapy, treatment, and cures for the disease, Terry looked beyond the surface for a solution. He came across promising research from leading brain health institutes about 40Hz light and its positive effects on the brain.

40Hz light may stimulate the brain’s natural frequency which may result in higher degrees of awareness, attention, and memory. Terry hired a team who built a prototype of a 40Hz light system and tried it at home; he also gave it to his wife and friends to use. The results were remarkable as his wife’s doctors noted significant improvement and his friends were recognizing  improved sleep and mood. From this encouraging feedback, Terry had the vision for BRIGHT and for BEACON40® lights to provide hope to those who have been impacted by cognitive decline.

The reviews from BEACON40 light users are also optimistic: families are saying that after a couple of weeks, they’ve noticed improvements in their memory, sleep, and mood. One daughter even said, “My mom called me by name” and that 40Hz light was the reason for her mother’s breakthrough.

The future of cognitive decline is not cures, but prevention.

The reason that BEACON40 has been so successful is because  it delivers lights pulsing at 40Hz, which is in gamma frequency range. The healthy  brain produces gamma waves at about 40Hz which is associated with higher-order cognitive function.

Terry says he always has a BEACON40 light on his desk, and it runs all the time. He doesn’t believe it’s possible to spend too much time with 40Hz light; however, he recommends to use the light for at least an hour each day. The team at BRIGHT designed BEACON40 to fit in with any lifestyle—there’s no headgear or bulky parts, it’s just a light. It’s a simple, non-invasive technique as the light just has to be in your surrounding environment.

Terry believes that prevention is the answer to beating Alzheimer’s. 40Hz light may not only be beneficial to those battling cognitive decline but may also promote a healthier lifestyle for those looking to prevent Alzheimer’s and avoid a dementia diagnosis. He says, “The future of cognitive decline is not cures, but prevention” and is striving to connect with communities around the country who have been affected by Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Lori La Bey is the founder of “Alzheimer’s Speaks”. She is an advocate for changing the narrative around Alzheimer’s and dementia from “crisis” to care”. As the daughter and a caregiver for her mother who fought Alzheimer’s for 30 years, Lori is personally impacted by the disease and is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive community filled with positivity.
