Alzheimer’s disease destroys neurons and their connections in parts of the brain involved in memory. It’s caused in part by amyloid plaques that compound in the brain. Multiple studies are ongoing revealing the deep connections between cleaning out amyloid plaques and sleep. Current research agrees with previous studies from 2018 & 2019 that link sleep deprivation with the progression Alzheimer’s disease.
