The promise of flickering light to treat Alzheimer’s takes another step forward in a new study conducted at the Georgia Institute of Technology, which revealed stark biochemical mechanisms: 40 Hertz stimulus triggers a marked release of signaling chemicals to fight Alzheimer’s disease. The flickering light does need not long to trigger the cytokine surge—the scientists found an increase in cytokines after only an hour of stimulation.
